Which hotels in New York do AI assistants recommend?

We asked ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Claude What are the best hotels to stay at in New York, NY? 3 times each and counted every hotel they named.

Last updated · 12 answers

  • 57hotels named

What the answers show

  • AI assistants named 57 different hotels in New York, but only 14 came up on three or more engines.
  • Answers here are unstable. Asking the same assistant the same question three times often produced a different list (stability 24/100), so a single check of your visibility can mislead.
  • The most-named hotel was The Mark, in 9 of 12 answers across 4 of 4 engines. The Mark came up in 3 of 3 Gemini answers but 1 of 3 on Perplexity.
  • Of the directory and review sites, tripadvisor.com was cited most, in 3 of 12 answers. That is where the assistants went to check hotels in New York.

Why some hotels show up and others don’t

Assistants recommend what they can find and cross-check. What tends to help:

  • Keep your property's facts identical on your website, Google, Tripadvisor, Booking.com and Expedia: name, address, amenities, parking, pet policy and check-in times.
  • Publish what travelers ask assistants about in plain text, not only in photos or PDFs: parking cost, distance to downtown and nearby venues, pool and gym hours, accessibility, and fees.
  • Keep reviews coming and answer them. Assistants lean on recent review text when they describe a hotel, so a current picture counts for more than an old score.
  • Mark up your pages with schema.org Hotel data, including amenities, so the facts are machine-readable as well as human-readable.

Questions

Which hotels in New York do AI assistants recommend most often?

In October 2026, The Mark was named in 9 of 12 answers from ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Claude, followed by 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge (8) and Aman New York (8). The table above has the full count.

What is the best hotel in New York, according to AI?

The assistants do not settle on one. Asked What are the best hotels to stay at in New York, NY? 3 times each, they named 57 different hotels, and 14 came up on three or more engines. Which one an assistant suggests can change from one ask to the next.

Do AI assistants give the same answer every time?

No. Each assistant was asked the same question 3 times. On a 0–100 scale, where 100 means the same names every time, their answers scored 24 on average: ChatGPT 24, Gemini 35, Perplexity 18, Claude 18.

Where do AI assistants get their recommendations for hotels in New York?

From the sources they search and cite. The most-cited here were timeout.com (4 answers), cntraveler.com (3 answers), guide.michelin.com (3 answers), along with the businesses’ own websites. A business's own website and listings on those sites are what the assistants read.

Does Leolens rank or endorse these businesses?

No. The table counts how often AI assistants named each business. Leolens did not rate, review or rank them, and no business paid to appear.

How we collected this

In October 2026 we asked ChatGPT (gpt-5.6-terra), Gemini (gemini-3.8-flash), Perplexity (perplexity/sonar) and Claude (claude-sonnet-5) the question What are the best hotels to stay at in New York, NY? 3 times each, through each provider’s API with web search turned on, as a new conversation with no account, history or location. A separate model listed the businesses each answer named; we checked every name against the answer’s own text and merged different spellings of the same business. Sources are the sites the engines linked to.

The apps use your location and history, so what you see there can differ. Nothing on this page is a rating or review by Leolens, and no business paid to appear. For how this market compares with the rest, see the October 2026 study.
