Why some hotels show up and others don’t

Assistants recommend what they can find and cross-check. What tends to help:

  • Keep your property's facts identical on your website, Google, Tripadvisor, Booking.com and Expedia: name, address, amenities, parking, pet policy and check-in times.
  • Publish what travelers ask assistants about in plain text, not only in photos or PDFs: parking cost, distance to downtown and nearby venues, pool and gym hours, accessibility, and fees.
  • Keep reviews coming and answer them. Assistants lean on recent review text when they describe a hotel, so a current picture counts for more than an old score.
  • Mark up your pages with schema.org Hotel data, including amenities, so the facts are machine-readable as well as human-readable.

No. The table counts how often AI assistants named each business. Leolens did not rate, review or rank them, and no business paid to appear.

How we collected this

In October 2026 we asked ChatGPT (gpt-5.6-terra), Gemini (gemini-3.8-flash), Perplexity (perplexity/sonar) and Claude (claude-sonnet-5) the question What are the best hotels to stay at in Los Angeles, CA? 3 times each, through each provider’s API with web search turned on, as a new conversation with no account, history or location. A separate model listed the businesses each answer named; we checked every name against the answer’s own text and merged different spellings of the same business. Sources are the sites the engines linked to.

The apps use your location and history, so what you see there can differ. Nothing on this page is a rating or review by Leolens, and no business paid to appear. For how this market compares with the rest, see the October 2026 study.
